saints & sonnets drop its fifteenth release, the perth & kinross ep coming courtesy of quell. nikolas raptis aka quell is a greek producer currently residing in berlin, germany and since dropping his debut material back in 2007 has gone on to deliver output for labels such as ibadan, kolour, 2020vision and tsuba. here we see raptis join the saints & sonnets roster, following recent releases from artifact, jabru and three bar.

bmb spacekid, aka dmitry semenov, hails from the coldest depths of st. petersburg, his music however is the polar opposite. laced with p funk and rare groove influences, the cuba ep is a harmonious combination of astral landscapes. having toured with hud mo and wu tang, collaborated with us rapper goldlink and won supporters including skream, this russian prodigy delivers an ep that s mature beyond his years.

jerry williams jr. alias swamp dogg ist ein echter exzentriker unter den soul-legenden. in dem wissen, dass eine außergewöhnliche biographie die halbe miete ist, verlieh er sich nivht nur seinen spitznamen, sondern behauptete zeitlebens er habe nie die schule besucht (stimmt nicht!) und sei eines morgens aufgewacht und habe gewusst, er sei ein -musikalisches genie- (kommt schon eher hin). jedenfalls arbeitete er als produzent, songwriter und studio-musiker für andere soul-musiker, bevor er sich eigenen songs widmete. und obwohl musik-kritiker vergleiche zu curtis mayfield und quincy jones bemühten, war ihm der große erfolg doch nie beschieden. dazu war er dann doch eine nummer zu abgehoben.
